I have tried a search for this as a RealVNC topic, but found nothing quite like it, hence the new topic. Apologies in advance if I missed something. The very nice people at Raspberry Pi have released a great new version of their OS called Pi Pixel. It has the RealVNC Server bundled with it. But I'm struggling to find the most appropriate version of the RealVNC Viewer for Linux Mint 18 (so that I can remote desktop onto a headless Pi) What's the best way to get the RealVNC Viewer installed and usable from the main Applications.Internet menu?
Thanks for any help. It looks like they only support Ubuntu up to version 15.10, but Mint 18 is based on Ubuntu 16.04. I downloaded the GZ X64 version on Mint 18 Cinnamon (which I have running in VirtualBox for just this sort of situation), right clicked on it and selected Extract archive here. Then I went into the extracted folder, then into the DEB folder, double clicked on the Viewer. 3ds Max Skull Full Version Cracked. deb, and gdebi said all dependencies were satisfied. It runs, but I haven't actually connected to any remote computer with it. I assume it will work properly. I have been using TightVNC with my Pi, which I have had for a long time.
VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is a graphical desktop sharing system that uses the Remote Frame Buffer protocol to remotely control another computer. With x11vnc software in Linux Mint you can remotely access your computer hosting an X Window session, from your local network or even from the Internet. Setting up VNC Server (x11vnc) in Linux Mint 18.x 1- Begin by removing the default Vino server (desktop sharing) in Linux Mint: sudo apt-get -y remove --purge vino 2- With Vino server removed, it is time to install x11vnc: sudo apt-get -y install x11vnc 3- Next, let’s create a directory to store a file that will contain the password used for VNC authentication: sudo mkdir /etc/x11vnc 4- And well, create an encrypted password file and save it in /etc/x11vnc/.
