I want to teach someone to drive stick. I figured, instead of having them immediately destroy my clutch, it would be fun to have them practice a little with the G27 to get used to left foot movements and gear selecting. I first thought of Rigs of Rods, but it's been awhile since I played that game. Tv Theme Tune Wav Files on this page. Just installed it and wow. It doesn't look at all like I remembered it, haha. What's a good game I can use the G27s H-pattern stick shift with, and just drive aimlessly? EDIT - UPDATE: I decided to go with City Car Driving.

The clutch is surprisingly well simulated IMO. If you release it too quickly or without enough throttle, it will stall and you'll have to restart the engine. Also, the clutch is NOT binary.

I recently bought a logitech G27 and wanted to know what good games there are for the PC according to a realistic feel and free roam gameplay? An Fv Notation On A Television Program Means It Is there.

That means it's not simply 'ON' or 'OFF' the clutch is analog and has a bite-point. If you release the clutch slowly, you can get the car to start rolling even without throttle, just using idle, like in real life. Release too quickly, though, and you'll stall.

There's even a couple clutch-training courses which include a challenge of not stalling, and using parking break to not roll-back on hills. It was pretty straight-forward to get it working with the G27 shifter. I recommend playing it with 900 degrees rotation though. Turning feels very unrealistic unless you have full rotation. The FFB is okay, it's cool how the wheel is tougher to move if you're parked, but loosens up as you get going. I was able to teach my friend on the G27 and it proved to be very useful for training! I introduced her to the concept of the clutch (she didn't even realize a third pedal was going to be involved) along with the idea of selecting gears in the h-pattern.

I mapped 6th gear to be reverse to make it more like most cars. Once we got to the real car, she was already over the idea of having to use a left-foot and learned very quickly. A half hour of parking lot starts-from-zero and we were already on city streets, selecting gears properly and everything! Though simulation is not at all like the real thing, I found it to be a very useful first step in teaching manual transmission!

Also, City Car Driving is a little expensive, but I think the better than using a racing game. The game it self is kinda weird but I did play with it for many hours afterward trying some of their challenges and trying to break the physics of the game.
