Gonna be picking one of these bad boys up for Christmas and I'm torn on which GTA game to get for it (I'll probably get all three at some point but I just need one for now). The two biggest considerations for me are gameplay and graphics-well, at least, as best can be accomplished on a handheld from 2004. The only GTA game I've played so far is 5 (on PS3) so I'd like if the gameplay was as close to that as possible.
I'm a bit torn on CW because it did make Greatest Hits but I've heard that the camera and gameplay elements are radically different from any other GTA game and I'm not sure it's my style. If someone could elaborate that would be great. Graphics wise they all look passable (about PS2 level) but again I've heard CW has a weird camera. My top two considerations at this point are LCS and VCS because I've heard that they stick to traditional GTA gameplay elements the closest, but I'm not sure which one. I've heard that since VCS came later it has some more polish and better gameplay, but I'm also thinking that there might be something about LCS that makes it better that I'm missing. LCS, VCS or CW and why?
LCS and VCS are similar for the most part, but VCS has better gameplay, more content, and introduces empire building. To be fair, I personally prefer LCS in terms of atmosphere (it heavily revolves around Toni Cipriani and the Leones from GTA III), but if you're looking for gameplay, VCS is the better option. CTW a is love it or hate it kind of deal, depending on who you ask; I personally love it. While it has the traditional mission based structure that's been standard since GTA III, the gameplay has a more 'arcade' like feel to it and the game has a topdown camera angle like GTA 1/2 (although to me, the camera in CTW seems a little less restrictive than the older games). Unlike the 3D games, the radio is entirely instrumental, but it's okay for what it is (my personal favorite station is DFA, although DeadMau5, Tortoise, and Truth+Soul are great stations as well).
